My mother told me that when I was a little girl and would look at this picture, I cried feeling sad for the little girl standing there all alone not realizing it was me.
girl holding tree
Who is there to love me Out in the forest
Who is there to care Alone in the cold
Who is there to touch me With each viewing
Who to smooth my hair This story retold
Out in the forest No one to find me
Alone in the cold No one to understand
This little lost girl No one to reach me
Three years old No one to take my hand.
No mother or father
Holding tree Many years older
This little lost girl. This landscape still real
This child is me. Many years older
This is how I feel:
Who is there to love me Empty shadow
Who is there to care Fallen bark
Who is there to see me One little lost girl
Or know I’m even there Holding back the dark.
